For ppl that are interested in finnish language (like lethal =)), this one is a good read. It dosen't really teach finnish but explains major differences compared to major european languages (mainly english).

I dont't know any online dics that can translate whole sentences but for single words, specially with words from specific areas,i have found http://europa.eu.int/eurodicautom very competent and personally i am using it at work in 99% of the cases while that remaining 1% is how much i use the printed dic

I think it's for the best if we didn't understood each other.
There's enough fights and misunderstandings among the people that speak the same language.

WSOY translators are pretty good, but even those can't translate longer sentences. Word by word translation is pretty good and it even recommends some synonyms to use.
