The wild and crazy Canal Digital keychanges continue. Less than 24 hours after the current key has gone public, Canal Digital have switched to a new key which is very likely to stay unknown to public for some time. The M-II and Penta people were very fast as usual and a new update for these cards was available soon after the keychange. Canal Digital have shown us that they intend to continue with these frequent keychanges, leaving the majority of Titanium card owners (and also the owners of Dreambox/DBOX2 etc.) out of the game. Suddenly an M-II card starts to lool like a nice Christmas present, doesn't it?

One might think that frequent keychanges are actually good thing because they could indicate the will of Canal Digital to continue the current Conax encryption ... if they're trying so hard to minimize the number of black viewers. But the fact is that every keychange costs Canal Digital money they have to pay to the provider of Conax encryption. If we compare this situation to Viasat, Nova Hellas or Via Digital for example, I'm affraid this might be the final stage before a cardchange takes place. My guess would be that this could happen sometime in the second half of 2005. Let's not forget that Conax CAS7 is ready.
